Bremsstrahlung radiation is 'braking' radiation is electromagnetic radiation that results from a deceleration or 'braking' of charged particle as it courses past another charged particle. In radiology, x-rays are largely generated through Bremsstrahlung radiation by accelerating electrons (created by heating a coiled filament in the cathode) into a metal target (e.g. Tungsten). While most energy of the decelerating electrons is converted to heat, a small percentage contributes to this braking radiation x-ray generation.
